The European Oral Song Tradition (EOST) brought together pan-European research on the singing traditions of minority language areas. In ‘Gaoth an Iar’, the song tradition is contemporary, just as you’d hear it at a St Peter’s cèilidh in Dalabrog, South Uist. Tracks are all-encompassing, including noted tradition bearers such as Paul McCalum, Peigi Lexy Chaimbeul, MÀiri Flòraidh Hollister, Seumas Caimbeul, Penny Burgess, Dòmhnall Ruairidh Caimbeul, and more, as well as the newly formed ‘Guthan an Iar’ Gaelic singing group and children from Sgoil Dhalabroig.
