Donald Joseph MacKinnon (1907-1962), or Dòmhnall Iòsaph mac Ruairidh Iain Bhàin, and commonly known as An Eòsag, was from Bruarnais, Barra. Possessing of the most recognisable Gaelic singing voices of the 20th century, An Eòsag was recorded by the School of Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh. He was also renowned for being the skipper of the MV Lochmore, which serviced the Outer Hebrides, singing to himself on the bridge as he sailed her across the Minch. This CD comprises of 16 tracks of archival song recording by An Eòsag, and includes tracks such as ‘A’ Bhìrlinn Bharrach’, ‘Òran na Cloiche’, ‘Òran eile air Latha Chùil Lodair’, and ‘Fear a’ Chota Ruaidh’.
