Gerard Beaton
Step-Dance

Gerard Beaton, born and raised in Mabou, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, has been step dancing for over three decades. Benefitting from the abundance of teachers in his local and surrounding communities, Gerard took lessons from a dozen teachers, including local legends such as Mary Janet MacDonald, Rodney MacDonald and Melody and Kelly Warner. He has shared his steps on many concert stages in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The highlights would certainly be step dancing for the Celtic Colours International Festival.
Gerard has significant experience teaching Cape Breton step dancing whether under his own guidance or as an instructor at Colaisde na Gàidhlig or the Mabou School of Cape Breton Step Dance. He is very excited to be coming back to Ceòlas to share some of the traditional Cape Breton step dance.
