Alec ‘Bhaltos’ MacDonald

Alec grew up in the village of Valtos, in Staffin, Isle of Skye. Gaelic was the language of the home, the village and of the entire community. Regarding the Gaelic language, Alec has been teaching in Scotland and throughout the world, namely Canada, America and Germany.
For almost twenty years, he presented Na Dùrachdan on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal. As well as the aforementioned, he was, for many years, lecturing at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and at Aberdeen University.
Today, he is kept busy with the translation of cartoon scripts for BBC Alba. He also finds himself doing voiceovers for some of the said cartoons. Alec also tutors community classes throughout Scotland.
It is an honour for him to be asked to teach, once more, at Ceòlas and to be with the people of South Uist.
