An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl)

The Quiet Girl is a 2022 Irish language film written and directed by Colm Bairéad. Set in 1981, the film follows a withdrawn nine-year-old girl who experiences a loving home for the first time when she spends the summer on a farm with distant relatives in Rinn Gaeltacht, County Waterford.

On a small island off the west of Ireland a clique of skateboarding children requested a better and safer environment to practice away from the steep hills and narrow gravelly roads. With the help of the local co-op manager and a supportive skateboarding community from the mainland, their dreams are realised.
