Iain MacDonald – Artistic Director

Iain, the younger brother of Allan & Dr Angus MacDonald, Glenuig, is an accomplished piper, Flautist, Record producer, composer and performer. Now living in Benbecula, Iain tutors part-time on the Gaelic Language & Music Course at Colaisde Bheinn na Faoghla (Benbecula College, campus of Lews Castle College))as well as visiting tutor to other educational establishments like the RSAMD, Limerick University, and The National Centre of Excellence in Trad Music in Plockton. He was ‘Musician in Residence’ at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye for seven years. For many years he was a member of the Battlefield Band and before that he played with the seminal folk band, Ossian. Iain plays the Highland Bagpipe, the small pipes, the flute and the whistle and can be heard on the recent Ceòlas CD, ‘Oirfeid Uibhist’ and the CD he recorded with Iain MacFarlane ‘The First Harvest’. More details at www.iainmacdonald.euor http://www.myspace.com/iainmacdonald
