Alec ‘Valtos’ MacDonald was born and bred into a Gaelic speaking crofting family in Staffin on the Isle of Skye. He was educated at Portree High School and went on to further education in Edinburgh. When he finished his studies he came back home to Skye and has since been in great demand as a Gaelic teacher not only in Sabhal Mòr Ostaig but has travelled all over Scotland, the USA and Canada.
Alec has an easy going engaging style of teaching which has endeared him to his many students to date and his talents don’t stop there however, he is equally at home on stage as an actor as well as a regular radio host and can be heard on the Friday Gaelic radio show ‘ Na Durachdan’. We are delighted to have Alec teaching at Ceòlas again.
