Às an Tobar: Uist’s book festival

Às an Tobar | Wellsprings, Uist’s new book festival jointly organised by Ceòlas, Cothrom, Taigh Chearsabhagh and Leabharlainn nan Eilean Siar, will take place during Book Week Scotland (19-25 November, 2018). The full programme is available on the festival’s website. Ceòlas is organising two nights of Gaelic-language events in Kildonan Museum‘s Fèis Room on Monday 19/11 and Tuesday 20/11.
Monday, 19/11, 7-9pm
- Book launch: Adhbhar Ar Sòlais by Marion F Nic ‘IlleMhoire (published by Bradan Press, CAN); 7pm with special guests. Adhbhar Ar Sòlais received second place at Duaisean Dhòmhnaill Meek 2018; Nic ‘IlleMhoire was the SBT New Gaelic Writer Awardee for Bàrdachd in 2017.
- CD launch: Freumhan Falaichte by Gillebrìde Mac ‘IlleMhaoil; 8pm.
Tuesday, 20/11, 7-9pm
- Author conversation: Calum MacFhionghain (Taobh a’ Chaolais) discussing his latest project – a darker deviation from his normal comedy writing. MacFhionghain is the SBT New Gaelic Writer Awardee for Rosg in 2018; 7pm.
- Talk: ‘The Keening Tradition of Uist’ by Dr Dòmhnall Uilleam Stiùbhart; 8pm.
